Dr Padmini Menon is a Queensland and New South Wales trained Medical Oncologist; obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians after undertaking training in both Medical Oncology and Palliative Medicine. Dr Menon is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland School Of Medicine, and an Associate Lecturer with Griffith University. She is a member of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia. Dr Menon was born and raised in India. She undertook her tertiary studies at the University of Calicut, obtaining a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. After completing three years of Basic Physician Training in hospitals throughout Victoria and Queensland, she was selected into the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP); after successful completion of the RACP Fellowship examination in Medical Oncology and Palliative Medicine. She underwent five years of supervised training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, the Redcliffe Hospital, and the Tweed Heads Hospital.
Throughout her career, Dr Menon has been actively involved in the training of medical students and medical trainees. In 2015 she was made Associate Lecturer at Griffith University, in recognition of her involvement in medical education and research. In 2016 she was awarded Lecturer at the University of Queensland School of Medicine. She maintains an active involvement in research and has presented her work at several local and international conferences. She also participates in GP education forums. Dr Menon is a member of the EVIQ Reference Committee and is very involved in their activities including protocol developments for oncology and palliative care treatments. She has a keen interest in clinical trials and has been extensively involved in several trials during her training.
She is also a member of AGITG (Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group), ANZGOG (Australia and New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group), and ANZUP (Australia and New Zealand Urological and Prostate Clinical Trials Group). Dr Menon manages all tumour streams, however has a special interest in gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and head and neck cancers. She also has completed her training in Palliative Medicine and provides holistic cancer care to her patients.
